The Animated Series' Showrunner Is Aware of Your Second Season Bingo Cards — With Some Positive Updates

The much-anticipated second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video this week, and fan speculation has been rampant.

Season 1 presents a large cast of characters living within Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds with songs about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.

The community's expectations for season 2 vary widely, but certain themes recur frequently: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?

"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner stated earlier this year. "However I believe that me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"

She reveals her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.

That could imply viewers have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 moves, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds this season.

"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the previously silent cast members."

The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — particularly in the form of audience prediction charts.

"I've come across a few fans create a bingo card about the new season," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."

Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
