Jon Ruben confessed to 17 charges at the judicial center on Friday

An individual who laced treats with sleeping medication and provided them to minors at a summer camp in the region has confessed to sexual offences against two children who were nine and 10.

The defendant was detained after eight minors and one adult fell ill at the facility in the summer month.

The 76-year-old, from that region, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on Friday.

Yet, he denied a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.

The defendant was kept in jail before a additional proceeding on November 28th.

'Sweet game'

The legal representative, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the judicial body.

She said his those affected were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer camp which he ran.

The man played a "treat game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".

She informed the proceedings the defendant had played this game with the young males "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the following morning.

She said Ruben had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had worries in July 2025.

The legal representative stated further: "In the summer" his family member had suspicions about what was going on, for good reason.

"They chose" to examine in the individual's items."

The prosecutor explained materials including infant oil, Vaseline and injection devices were found, and his family member notified the law enforcement about his worries.

She stated the man proceeded to engage in the "candy game" with six boys that night - that Saturday - and they were all sick the subsequent day.

"The police had not gone out by that point," she continued.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was investigating the police response of the events.

Mrs Prior said the children were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the stepson called the law enforcement a second time.

She said Ruben then engaged in the "sweet game" in a area of five youngsters.
